Ballinagh... with sound!!

We are in Cavan... missing Gina... but having lots of fun!
Christina has braved the showers and only one girl screamed when she saw them.. good times!

We had 94 kids today and they are all awesome! There's one four year old we are convinced will win a Nobel Prize! Gina was with 4-5's and Chrisi is with 10-12's, of which there were 40 today! They made waving hand crafts with "With God I can do anything" and learned about David and Goliath and being strong and courageous :)

The kids are with us from 11-2.30 so we have lots of team time for Giant piggy in the middle, (when Rachel & Christina generally gets an enormous sponge ball kicked in her face!) shopping (in Centra!), getting ready for the next day and doing our quiet times, and worshiping and praying together.

We also invite the teenagers over in the evening for games, hanging out, "hot seats" and chats. They are so much fun and after we've sent them home and had our prayer & worship time we end up hanging out with them again in the Chinese! (Where tonight we had a work-out competition!!)

It's only Tuesday, well technically it's Wednesday now, but no doubt we'll have lots more funny stories by the end of the week!

Family Week 3

We arrived up in Ovoca Manor on the first of August, the day after CSSM ended and got to know the team. There was only like 20 of us which was a big contrast to the 52 people sized team yokie-ma bob (im tired) at CSSM. I (Gina) was put in the 4-5s group and Chrisi was with 6-9s! Stephen Stone was leading my group and Billy Stone was leading Chrisi's. We didn't get to see each other all that much because we were in different age groups but Family Week was such a laugh.
We were staying in the long attic with all the girl leaders and there was loadsa funny sleep talking like my "CRAP, CRAP, CRAP" or Lydia's "Nooo mum, please just stop!!!!"
There were 10 kids in the 4-5s group and they were such craic! We played a lot of duck, duck, goose and watched a lot of Veggie Tales. The theme of Family Week was Christmas, so we were teaching the kids the story of Jesus' birth. They listened really well and really seemed to enjoy the week. The whole idea behind the Christmas theme was just remembering that although Christ died to save us, he lived to give us purpose and example.
Everyone gelled really well on the team and we were hanging out with the Teens a lot too. On the Monday night, Wednesday night and Friday night there was a worship session for an hour called Soul Down. That time was just really serious and intimate which was really cool and God was really present there!
We had the afternoons free so we did different things each day. A few of us went to the BridgeWater Shopping Centre one day and another day everyone went to Avondale. Chrisi and I stayed in to watch a dvd one afternoon just to spend time together which was lovely, apart from the fact that the dvd was a bit crap..."Licence to Wed" ?
We had a great time at Family Week 3 and I know i definetly want to go back next year as a leader again.
We're just at Cavan at the moment but i'm going to go home tomorrow for the rest of the week. I'm just feeling tired and unwell so i'm going to rest but Chris will catch you up with all the sceal.
RAW is next week and we're super excited for that! First summer RAW ever, going to be immense!!!!
Anyways, keeeep reading.... the internship is nearly coming to an end :(
Lotsa love always,
The Girls, xx

Next!

CSSM has ended and Chrisi and Gina are safely tucked up in Ovoca Manor at Family Week 3.
It looked like a lot of fun so I am sad to miss out but they will blog soon and tell you all about CSSM & this weeks antics.
I hope you enjoy the picture-sometimes those girls have weird fashion sense!

Seeing the girls grow has been such a blessing to me over the last few weeks and I have been so proud of them both so many times (none more than when Gina put the salt out for breakfast in the sugar bowl!). They have been learning huge life lessons and the many compliments I have received about their maturity, capability, initiative and helpfulness I lift up for the glory of God.

Glaslough and Cssm

We are here sitting in the computer room in Hillside church at CSSM waiting for our lunch. CSSM doesn't start until tomorrow but we arrived yesterday to start with setting up etc.
We know we'll have a deadly time here but we miss Glaslough :(
Glaslough started out with Me, Chrisi and Rachel road tripping it down to Monaghan with a bitta Avril Lavinge playing in the car and lots of laughter. We arrived at BallyAlbany but everyone was at the other church and so we couldnt get in...so we called up to this woman's house to ask for Daniel to get keys but the woman didn't even answer her door, she spoke to us through the door (we don't think she liked us very much) so we went away!
We arrived up to the place where the camp was being held and met the team! All from Northern Ireland but I fit in perfectly with my AMAZING immitation of a Northern accent and Chrisi was grand because she picks up accents after 3 seconds.
We set the place up and had some tea...we then went back to BallyAlbany and there was a chill out room upstairs with....AIR HOCKEY! so of course Rachel and I ran straight to the table and starting playing...we got a bit too into it, there was sweating and injuries and Rachel let out her true feelings towards me "Your a vicious cow and i hate you"...she loves me really, i hope!
Every night we had a team meeting where there was a "hot seat" and people gave there testimonies which was deadly because it allowed us to get to know each other better and see how God had worked and is at work in other's lives.
Camp started on the Monday and all the kids came...i was working with 4-5 year olds (so cuuutee!!) and Chrisi was with the uber cool 10-12s!
We sang amazing songs and did drama's and games...the best game was the lace's game which involved eating lace's (the sweets) really fast and then at the end shouting either "boys are better than girls" or "girls are better than boys" and we all know the second statement is the right one!
The kids were awesome, so much fun and such a laugh. We played sports with them in the afternoon and we also did crafts.
At night Chrisi, Jamie, Jason, Nelly and I stayed back to hang with the teens or "the teen" as only one came but we had such a laugh playing basketball and splash and the hand game (so addictive).
God was so at work all week, it was amazing. He gave us the energy and the strength needed and we just relied on him. The team were so lovely and we made some friends for life.
Oh and we went swimming on the first day which was a bit tramatic with boys in white shorts but we shall say no more about that.
We're excited for CSSM starting tomorrow and everyone seems really nice here too. Keep us in your prayers to just be full of energy and enthusiasm with the kids and to just really glorify God through all we do.
Love the girls xxx
